To get started, all you need is a bit of motivation and about two hours of your time.
First of all, it’s important to define the goal of your research:
- Are you looking for an answer to a specific question about one of your relatives?
- Do you want to preserve and explore information about your immediate family members?
- Or do you intend to find and organize as much information as possible about all your known relatives — both close and distant?
Once your research goal is clear, you can move on to the practical part.
You’ll need a computer with internet access — first to take part in our mini-training, and later to collect and process information about your family.
It’s also helpful to have some basic data about your closest relatives: full names, dates of important life events, photographs, and old documents (such as birth, marriage, divorce, or death certificates).
If any of your family members once drew a paper family tree — that’s an extremely valuable find that will definitely come in handy.
Sign up for our mini-training, held once a week in Ukrainian or English. It’s a free online session on the ZOOM platform or as a video call in a messenger.
